Manual 365/357 (Don’t) Encourage Them….

dsc_6223-editBack in my day making the hair on the back your parents’ hands stand up was called “You’ll Slip And Die!” apparently now it’s called Parkour (AKA You’ll slip and die, sometimes adults do know best!)  That said, seeing Reece have a bit of fun in a relatively safe situation was quite eye opening…dsc_6219And I hate being the responsible (ish) adult…dsc_6215dsc_6189No child was harmed (Thank f**k) during the making of this blog post…

Manual 365/356 What’s The Frequency Kenneth?

dsc_6017-edit10 days to go and I have this just outside my back door for the duration… And, there’s a storm forecast for the weekend. I am not going to apologise for the amount of beach / long exposures I have posted and will most definitely be posting over the coming days!dsc_6039Happy Winter Solstice Peeps!

Manual 365/355.2 Still Optimistic

This morning was amazing, the beach was perfect and the sea was alive. No one apart from the dog and his owner and a brilliant sunrise I’m going to have to spend a couple of hours later getting all of the shots sorted and into a google album. I’ll post the link here tomorrow but in the mean time here’s one I couldn’t not post. Everything was going great so I pushed my luck, dropped my camera to ground level and shot the incoming foam…dsc_5761Living close to the edge… (wet, sandy camera! 😉

Now, Off to Mwnt!

Manual 365/355.1 The Great Optimist…

This place makes things…dsc_5721It makes happy dogs. I know most dogs are happy whatever the weather but there’s something that just pops when these guys get too the beach…

It kinda works on photographers too!

Needed an early (dark) start to get the mile and a half to Tresaith but it was most definitely worth it!

Manual 365/354 Sentinels

dsc_5537-hdr-editAlways, always check for your memory card before traipsing half a mile to a cliff top only to find the slot in the side of the camera empty… Then, make sure you check all your pockets before walking all the way back only to find said memory card in the pocket of your jeans among the lose change… *shakes head!*

Manual 365/345 Some Days Nothing Works…

dsc_6408-panoSo it’s a good job I’ve got quite an extensive back catalogue.

Today’s tip, go panorama, my favourite method is handheld, choose the far left of the scene you want to capture and relax, take note of the details in on the far right of the frame and click. use the markers in the viewfinder to keep the camera level and slowly turn to the right until the details you had on the right-hand side are now on the left and repeat as before. Most cameras have a panorama setting which is handy but I think most of them revert to Jpeg when taking shots using this method. Personally, I prefer the versatility of shooting RAW (details coming up soon) and editing in Lightroom, there’s a merge option but if you get above 3 images it’s better to use Photoshop.

I will elaborate further in a future post.

In the meantime, today’s shot is from Chesil Beach earlier this year.

Manual 365/343 Mute Threat

dsc_3359-editHe wasn’t that happy but he managed to maintain his composure and this photographer didn’t push his luck too much!

I’ve really tried to get texture into my shots today and I think I’ve managed it. with the grumpy swan and with the Wylye Troll…dsc_3388-editAperture wide open at full tilt (105mm) and it was the middle of the day (lunch break) so the light wasn’t brilliant so ISO400. I am starting to notice the noise in some of my edits, you can reduce it in Lightroom but it’s always there. And if the troll is making your head hurt it’s a fallen tree half submerged in the deep and calm River Wylye and then rotated 90 degrees…

Manual More! I Could Murder A Better Dongle!

DSC_3293.JPGNow, I’m starting to wonder if these crows know something I don’t, it could well be the electromagnetic effect as the current buzzes across the insulators creating an attraction, seems strange that the two nearest poles are busy. Or, I would hazard a guess, that this is one Murder and the wifi is better closer to the source. Whatever the phenomenon is I bet their signal is better than mine at the moment! #firstworld(soddingdongle)problems

And I’m not going to do a third blog (See the hashtag above) but I am going to say…DSC_3287-Edit-Edit.JPGThere are no mince pies here Waitrose, just the fight for sex and food!…. Maybe you could use that for your easter campaign?

Manual 365/340 Thanks! Love, The Cats…

dsc_3242-editI always thought cats could only see in monochrome and a touch of red but, after editing the photo I thought I’d better make sure and what do you know… I was wrong The Google says they see more like this…DSC_3242.JPGWhich is really shitty and gives them no excuse for wrecking the perfectly decorated tree that now adorns our living room. Decorated by Sandie and who would guess that the first thing to get close to knocking it over would be the daft photographer husband trying to get a cat’s eye view from the floor (I’ll be honest, so far the cats have taken no notice of it what so ever…)
