Manual 365/297 In My World…

… We have Ice in the Autumn.glassOk, a little jiggery pokery in today’s main shot but we’ll be lucky to get ice over the winter let alone in the autumn so a little bit of editing (I’ll detail what I’ve done below) hopefully will be forgiven.

When I got up this morning the sky was crystal clear, unfortunately, the higher the sun got  the thicker the clouds became and by the time I got into the gardens it was pretty much the same as yesterday so rather waiting in the same place I just carried on walking and pulled in tight.DSC_9598.jpgdsc_9569It’s still a glorious walk whatever the weather.

Right, techy bit for the main shot; 10 one second exposures, edited and the stacked in photoshop, mean tool applied to get the motion of the long exposure, unfortunately there was some movement in the trees and artifacts and aberrations from the different shots in the building and rope beside the path so I save the long exposure shot and then opened that, together with the first of the single shots as layers in Photoshop, added a layer mask and the painted through the original shot to add clarity to the trees then saved it back into lightroom and used the brush tool to reduce the dehaze and up the exposure on the water to give it the ice effect… Go me eh? ;O)

Manual 365/Sunday Bonus!

Why?, Because I want too, that’s why!

dsc_6862-pano-edit2×3 Panorama of Stourhead Gardens taken this morning and stitched together in Photoshop. I also have a short video of the spot on my Instagram account, just search for focalthingy over there and you get the scenery with sound! Modern tech eh, isn’t it amazing! ;o)

Follow me over there too!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you laters!

Manual 365/276 Because I’m Easy…

Oooo, I’m early! Normally Sunday mornings mean lay-in, fuzzy head and carpet mouth… But not this morning, up before 6 and out the door by half past, The Sun came up at just gone seven and I was getting wet feet from the dew in a field next to a misty lake…dsc_6229Challenging settings and to be honest I should have used the tripod, tighter apeture and longer exposures but, on the whole, I got a few shots I like.dsc_6191-pano

Manual 365/82 Serenity…

The world is such a beautiful ugly place and we are all such fragile beings, a moment is all it takes to change everything…

DSC_9719.jpg

I’m not a religious fellow so can offer no prayers but my thoughts are with the victims and families of those affected by this mornings heinous acts in Brussels and, as ever, with those around the world who live with the daily threat of tyranny in what ever form it chooses.

The world does keep turning and some will continue to hate but they will never prevail.

Manual 365/77 Old Mans Eyebrows and Catch Lights!

I know about Light rings, squares or stars. You can either build a structure using chicken wire and cheap florescent bulbs with a hole in the middle so you can poke your camera through, or you could buy a clip on flash that would fit around the rim of your lens, or… You could just get bored in a Premier Inn room, you’d have to choose one that’s received their most recent upgrade, with the neon purple “Mood” light behind the headboard and the light built into the vanity mirror (That’ll be the ring light then!).

I’ve rotated the picture in Lightroom so the writing’s correct on the camera and it’s black and white because the vanity light made me look green!

I’m not a massive fan of pictures of me at the best of times and I was going to crop this down to just one eye and the lens but the wife loves it and she’s never wrong! ;o)

A couple of other shots from yesterday and today, there’s no real connection. The weather’s been great but there’s a fine mist everywhere and it kind of buggers up any landscape shots.

The slow shutter speed added blur to the wind turbines on the right. This will be a future mission, to get some movement in turbines but I need to find a great location for that one.
