Bumble Photo Bomb!

Right, I’m setting myself a rule. If I get photos of flowers and there’s not an insect of some description getting in on the act it’s not getting in!

Lucky for me there was the bee in this shot of my most favourite spring flower she’s bang on the focal plane too!

Manual 365 Righting The Wrong!

I got it wrong, a couple of days ago I posted a beachscape where that the click, slide and convert to black and white auto reflex took over. I knew deep down that the picture, while good, could have been better and sure enough with a relook and a little bit of back stepping with more time and effort … This happenedblend-2-2Soooo much more depth.

So, bonus tip for today, have confidence in your work but always be prepared to admit to yourself when you’re wrong and don’t be afraid to change things!

Have a great day!

Manual 365/301 Daaad!

dsc_9870But I’ve been told by a great authority (The kids) that I’m doing too many long exposures (this one’s a 10 second tripod shot) / stacking shots of the same spots. Personally, I blame the lack of storms and the stubbornness of the leafs to fall from the trees on their own! And the fact that I’m just a humble photographer who would develop a nervous twitch if I had to walk past something like this and not get a shot….But hey, I’m dad, so what do I know?

Manual 365/291 Step Aside Chlorophyll…

Carotene and Xanthophyll have taken the stage, big time! I do have a vision for my big autumn colour scene but it’s not today.

I do like the gritty, dirty feel to this shot though. The beauty and warmth of the summer being sucked back into the cold, damp earth…

dsc_8408-editWell, that’s all a bit deep, I’m off to find a tree to hug! ;o)

Manual 365/289 The Destroyer Of Beauty…

I am ashamed, this no longer exists…dsc_8175I have heard of it before, where you take a photo and then destroy the thing you shot so no on else can get that photo. (There is an actual name but I’m buggered if I can remember what it is) When I first heard of it I was appalled, nothing could be more selfish, more insular and down right nasty but, now, I’m guilty of it too. In my defense, I really did have to mow the lawn…

Manual 365/279 Ooo, This Is A Tough One…

I kind of set the bar high with yesterday’s blog, where the hell do I go now? dsc_6547I go to Stourhead, that’s where I go! The days have been so kind to us so far this autumn, even if the trees haven’t been! It’s coming though, it’s changing every day and believe me, I’m noticing it! ;o)dsc_6558If you around this neck of the woods the gardens are open late for the autumn colours so make the most cause it’ll be flat and grey before you can say “What summer?”

Manual 365/247.5 Sheps JOGLE Update… He’s Made Of Iron!!!

A couple of weeks ago I blogged that a work colleague and friend was completing a John O Groats to Lands End cycle ride for Diabetes UK. He started a week ago and is currently 700 miles in and I’ve neglected to mention it earlier… Bad Blogger!

So, tonights extra blog is dedicated to Graham Sheppard, only two days to go Fella and I know you like the sunsets / sunrises so here’s another from this morning.

You can follow his progress on his Facebook page and if you fancy digging deep, his Just Giving page is here. (He’s doing amazing there too!)

So, Shep, if you’re reading this, you’ve broken its back, only a couple of nice easy days (I’m kidding) to go!
