Manual 365/243.5 Tight Lipped…

I’ve just got so many great shots today and I need to take a moment to recognise the little fellas, the filter feeders, the molluscs with the funny name, the things that shape our coast line, apart from the sea that is. So, here’s to the Barnacles,DSC_1431-Edit.jpg

And the LimpetsDSC_1521.jpg

And the Stone Balancers DSC_1655.jpgThis fella is happy!

Manual 365/242 Not Your Average Monday Morning Apart From The…

Coffee…DSC_1271.jpgBut once it had kicked in the view was rather special. DSC_1262Today is going to be the first real day of rest, Saturday was travelling here, Sunday was travelling to Birmingham and back and today will be travelling to the beach (about 50 feet and a few steps) and a bit of a mooch around. The weather is great and all is good with this little corner of West Wales.

Now for a fry up! ;o)

Manual 365/241 What Do Gamer Dads Do When They Retire?

Buy a camera and develop a new obsession and then get dragged to gamer conventions by the gamer kids (and wife), that’s what…

I kid, it was a great day spent at Insomnia58 but I still insisted on bringing the camera though and the shot above took about 20 minutes of sitting low against a wall, waiting for a natural Nerd lull (it was busy). I had my ISO set to auto because of the low lighting and bright effects…See,  I’m a Nerd too… I felt right at home apart from the fact no matter where I looked I couldn’t find one single MSX.

Cosplay peeps, they were 10 a penny though!DSC_1147

Oh, and Youtubers too but that’s a not after 13 hrs and 326 miles blog…

Manual 365/240 The Bride

Quick one this morning as we have a long day ahead.DSC_0891-Edit.jpgAnother shot from Claire and Matts wedding, a candid shot from the dance floor that popped in Silver Efex Pro 2 and changed from a badly shot dance floor shot into, in my opinion, something special. Thanks again Guys for a great night.

Right, off to Aber Porth and a week of family, seaside, sun and shots!

Manual 365/239.5 The Groom

DSC_0950-Edit.jpgI keep going back to this shot, his name is Matt and he’s a work colleague and the groom at yesterdays wedding and he’ll hate me for this, but something has just clicked! The lighting was chance, as was the shot and the ISO is jacked right up because of the low lighting. This is what it’s all about, just a moment, not ideal, not staged but, in my mind, perfect! I love what I’m doing and I love the people who enable me to do it!

Manual 365/239 The Ultimate Camera

Guess who’s got extension tubes…DSC_0984-Edit.jpgFor those who don’t know, you can buy extension rings that move your lens away from the camera and in turn reduce your focusing distance. So, my 18-105mm lens has a focusing distance of about 12 inches at 105mm. (I know, imperial / metric, make your bloody mind up!!!) If I add a 20mm tube that distance decreases to “Dad! This is scary!” Close! The trade off though, and there’s always a trade off, is that your depth of field reduces too, down to mm so any movement after you’ve focused could take your subject out of focus and blurry. (use back button focus, it helps!) Yet another challenge that I’m going to relish! ;o)

Thanks Kayleigh, for supplying the eyeball!

And this blog is dedicated to my wonderful mum who’s celebrating her birthday today. Happy birthday Mum, thanks for all that you do! xxxDSC_1010.jpgOh, and just a word of advice, don’t by the £7.99 tubes from Amazon, they don’t work. Spend another 20 quid and get a set with electronic connections and aperture ability. I was being a tight arse and wasted 8 quid on tat! I have now corrected the error! ;o)
